The Department provides a dynamic academic and research environment, supported by access to modern laboratories and advanced equipment, enabling both faculty and students to pursue high-quality research and innovation in emerging energy technologies.
Head of Department Message
Dr. Mustafa Anwar
Welcome to the Department of Energy Systems Engineering at USPCAS-E, NUST. The rapid growth in energy demand and recurring energy challenges have heightened the need for sustainable and secure energy solutions in Pakistan. The country is fortunately endowed with diverse energy resources, and addressing these challenges requires a multidisciplinary and forward-looking approach. Energy Systems Engineering (ESE) is a highly interdisciplinary field, and the Department serves as a leading academic and research unit within USPCAS-E. In addition to its established graduate programs, the Department is expanding its academic portfolio with the planned launch of a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Energy, aimed at developing a strong foundation in energy sciences and engineering at the undergraduate level. This initiative aligns with our vision to cultivate skilled professionals equipped to meet future energy demands. ESE is a research-intensive department where faculty, researchers, and students are engaged in cutting-edge work across areas such as solar energy applications, advanced energy materials and systems, biofuel engineering, electrochemical devices, energy economics, and modeling of energy systems and processes. The Department maintains strong linkages with industry and public-sector organizations to address real-world energy challenges and to train a competent workforce. Supported by well-equipped laboratories and active research funding, the Department continues to strengthen its academic and research profile. We look forward to welcoming students at both undergraduate and graduate levels and contributing to the development of a sustainable energy future. Best wishes and regards, Dr. Mustafa Anwar
